School in a Campground

Wanting to make some lasting memories, we lured Grandpa Clark to join us on a homeschool campout.
Imagine what the drunken hunters camping next to us thought when they saw this scene:

Aunt Kari agreed to join us, so perhaps they thought Grandpa was a polygamist with two "young" wives. (Taking some liberty here to lump myself in the same catagory as Kari.)

At any rate, we enjoyed 3 delightsome days with perfect weather and lots of learning.

Grandpa Clark was in his element, teaching the girls about soil samples, water quality, layers of sediment, plant identification, and ecosystems.

There was also a lot of time for art projects, nature hikes, reading aloud....

and some science experimenting in a pan of water, trying to float pumice stones, and looking for nymph stages of water insects.
Grandma Clark even joined us for one of the days!
The experience was fantastic!
(Wesley agrees that he couldn't have "picked" a finer group of camping buddies!")
