Extreme Pinewood Derby

The ward held a really fun activity last weekend, an extreme Pinewood Derby for the whole family. The hitch? Well, there was none. Barring any open flames, there were absolutely no rules! These were two of the many entries:

A car with a cheater bar to hold back its opponent, and an overgrown sweet potatoe strapped onto a car.

Scott and the kids went crazy with their own plans and came up with a sure-fire winner!

They assembled a green "Shum Bus"! An exact look alike of our beloved family van!

The design was unbeatable! At race time the top popped off the "Shum Bus" and a tape measure was slipped into place!  A Pinewood Derby Van that could haul a load of stinky miniature teenagers to the finish line at record speeds!

There wasn't a race we didn't win! Scott simply held the van in place at the starting line while Tanner Shumway stretched the tape out of it's spool and held it at the finish line. As the measuring tape retracted, the Shumbus simply whizzed towards the finish line. No one could beat us!

That was until Tanner Cropper showed up late with his car. Following is a video of the championship race between Tanner Cropper and the Shumways.

We'll be more prepared next year!
