Civil War, Anyone?

We have been a little obsessed with the Civil War in our home school lately.
We recently drove to Eugene to watch a Civil War re-enactment.
The first thing we saw was Rebel infantry drilling.
AWESOME!!!!
Little did they know that the Union army was camped nearby!
The battle re-enactment lasted 45 minutes, complete with cavalry & infantry, lots of black powder, 6 cannons & ground explosions that blew up chuncks of sod and soil into the air.
Each army must have had 75 soldiers. It was quite a show!
The moans of the wounded, prisoners of war, shouts from Cavalry charges,
Priests administering last rites....it was unforgetable.

  1. You are the BEST homes school mom ever! You probably brought your own homemade hard tack for the kids to munch on while they watched the show. I know what time you had to leave in the morning to get there...yes, you're the BEST mom in the whole world I say. I would have rented something like it on video and slept in.
