Not many teenagers come home to find a plate of frogs thawing on the kitchen counter. But then again not many kids understand the unavoidable perils of sharing their house with a school. For our older teens who go to high school, coming home is not always a piece of cake.
That's because of late, the two younger home schooled girls are deep in the trenches of Biology 101. Recently a big frozen mail ordered box showed up on our doorstep full of all kinds of things just waiting to be dissected.
This is one house in which you don't want to rummage through the fridge in the middle of night looking for a snack. If you're not careful you'll end up eating something far more exotic than you bargained for.
Take for example our garage freezer. Want some steaks for dinner? A turkey? Leftovers? or perhaps a delectable cow eyeball or frozen piglet?
Yes, you heard right...
So far this school year our freezer has been home to cow eyeballs & hearts, piglets, frogs, worms, perch fish, star fish, squid, and fully intact shrimp. Which is why late night snacking can be very perilous if you're half asleep.
So when the hungry teenagers all come home from school, they never know what they're going to find waiting on the counter. All they know is, it's probably not going to be a fresh plate of warm homemade cookies.
